In a moving ceremony led by state and municipal authorities, the official opening of the Street of Cajetas and Traditional Sweets of Celaya took place. This new, emblematic space is located on Manuel Doblado Street, in the heart of Celaya’s historic center.

The event, held on April 25th at 6:00 PM, brought together hundreds of citizens and visitors who enjoyed free tastings, tours of cajeta factories, traditional music, and a festive atmosphere that paid tribute to one of the municipality’s greatest prides: cajeta.

With the participation of the Celaya Cajeta Group and renowned local factories such as La Reyna, La Chivita, La Delicia, La Bola, La Vencedora, La Mexicana, Chocolates Trufel, and Las Tres Mulatas, the event became a historic milestone for the city.

"Today, Celaya honors its history and projects its flavor into the future. This street is not only a tribute to our tradition, but also an open door to tourism, the local economy, and Celaya pride", officials emphasized during the opening ceremony.

Context and Tradition

Celaya’s cajeta, made primarily with goat’s milk and sugar, has been recognized nationally and internationally for its unparalleled flavor and quality. Celaya has established itself as the main production center of this traditional Mexican sweet.

The “Calle de las Cajetas” (Cajeta Street) was created with the goal of preserving, promoting, and sharing this living tradition with visitors, thus strengthening the municipality’s cultural and economic identity.

With this opening, Celaya reaffirms its position as the cajeta capital of Mexico and invites locals and tourists alike to enjoy this new sensorial and cultural experience.
