Renovation of the Celaya Mummy Museum Boosts Local Tourism

Celaya Strengthens Dissemination of Its Historical and Cultural Heritage.

As part of the strategy to strengthen and promote local tourism, the Celaya Tourism Council conducted a special tour of the renovated facilities of the Celaya Mummy Museum, with the participation of local and regional media, museum staff, and the Municipal Tourism Director, Carlos Ricardo Olvera Ávila.

During the visit, attendees were able to learn firsthand about the museographic and conservation improvements that have been made to the facility, which houses a valuable collection of 24 mummified bodies, distributed in two thematic rooms that narrate part of the municipality’s funerary and social past.

Carlos Olvera Ávila emphasized that the museum’s renovation is part of a comprehensive tourism revitalization agenda:

"We want the Mummy Museum to be a space for reflection and learning, where both locals and visitors understand the importance of preserving our history with respect and responsibility," the Tourism Council director stated during the tour.

The Celaya Mummy Museum, renowned for its historical and anthropological value, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering visitors a unique look into the region’s past and traditions.

With these initiatives, the Celaya Municipal Government, through the Tourism Council, reaffirms its commitment to consolidating the municipality as a tourist destination in the state of Guanajuato.
